How to get a replacement car?

1. Fill out an accident report or obtain a police report.

Who is entitled to a replacement car?

You are entitled to a replacement car through RCA if you meet the following conditions:

Condition 1 – you are the injured party

To be entitled to a replacement car you must be the injured party in the accident. If you are partially at fault, you do not have this right.

Condition 2 – the vehicle is not suitable for technical use

If your vehicle is technically unusable, you are entitled to a replacement car.

How long can you use a replacement car and how much does it cost?

The RCA replacement car does not entail any additional cost for the injured party and payment is made directly between the rental company and the responsible person’s insurer.

Maximum duration

The law provides that the period of use of the replacement car is calculated from the day the repair is authorized until the day the injured party accepts the compensation offer presented by the insurer. However, if the repair of the damaged vehicle is completed earlier, this period lasts until the repair is completed.

Zero cost for the injured party

DEX Car costs are covered directly by the at-fault person’s insurer and your RCA policy is not affected.

Total economic damage

In case of total economic damage, the replacement car is granted until the compensation offer is received and the amount covered by the insurer cannot exceed 25% of the market value of the destroyed vehicle.
