Top 5 convertible cars available in Romania in 2026

BMW from 4

The convertible car in Romania is often the second vehicle in the garage, the «Sunday» car that you use for leisurely drives. Convertible cars have less trunk space, tend to be heavier than their fixed-roof counterparts, and their body framework is not as sturdy.

Nonetheless, the joy of driving a convertible car is amazing.

Convertible cars can be found in Romania with a variety of styles, sizes, and prices. But the key question is. What is the top convertible car in Romania? Let’s explore!

Before diving into the specifics of each model, it’s important to keep in mind that the choice of a convertible car greatly relies on real availability in the market, not just on the ranking or technical details. Variations in features, engine type, or overall condition can significantly alter the user experience, which is why looking at the current range of convertible cars available can give a better idea of options that can be bought right away.

Best convertible cars for Romania in 2026

1.Audi TT Roadster

Audi TT Roadster

The Audi TT Roadster is a convertible that’s fast and fun enough to satisfy enthusiasts. The TFSI engine range starts with the 2.0-litre 194PS option and continues with a 242PS, 302PS (TT S) and 394PS (TT RS) variant. The entry-level variant can only be ordered with front-wheel drive, but the others are only «four».

Unlike the interior of the BMW Z4, which is very similar to other BMW models, the interior of the Audi TT Roadster has a distinct character that won’t make you feel like you’re inside a roofless A3 for a moment. Inside we find a 12-inch digital display as standard, and the attitude on the road is relaxed and pleasant. It lacks the high-tech features of other Audis, but it’s a great all-around alternative to the BMW Z4.

The Audi TT Roadster has no rear seats and the trunk is quite small, only enough for two travel bags. But that’s all you need to enjoy a long weekend.

2. Mazda MX-5

Mazda MX-5

A true legend, the Mazda MX-5 has managed to stay at the top of the «best-selling sports cars» list for 31 years.

The Mazda MX-5 is probably the only car in history to have its name registered twice in the Guinness Book of Records. Launched in 1989, the MX-5 model reached the 531,890 sales mark in just ten years when it received its first mention in the record books. The second mention came in 2007, when the model achieved record sales of 800,000 units. The MX-5 has won 86 awards throughout its history.

The Mazda MX-5 offers excellent handling and dynamic performance at a very affordable price. The new model is available with a hard or soft roof and weighs 100 kg less than its predecessor.

It is available in two engine variants: 1.5 liters and 132 hp or 2.0 liters and 184 hp, both supercharged by a turbocharger.

Despite its very reasonable price, the Mazda MX-5 is one of those very well-equipped convertible cars. Even base models benefit from LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking and heated mirrors.

The Mazda MX-5 offers special driving pleasure, reliability and economy that are impossible to match at this price. Assuming you only need two seats and luggage space isn’t a priority, it’s hard to find weak points.

3. BMW 4 Series Cabriolet

BMW 4 Series Cabriolet The BMW 4 Series Convertible is a 4-seater convertible that aims to please a large category of public. Top of the range are the M4 Competition and M440i xDrive versions, which offer plenty of sporty aggression, but are also reasonably priced. However, you have a wide range of 4 or 6 cylinder petrol and diesel engines at your disposal with more accessible prices and balanced performance.

The cabin is very well insulated and finished. It’s the kind of convertible model where you can easily have a conversation with the roof down and the windows down. The infotainment system is top of the line, there’s decent storage space and the front seats are very comfortable.

The BMW 4 Series Convertible is a complete convertible, combining comfort and driving refinement with excellent engines and impressive handling.

4. Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet The Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is a large, luxurious convertible that places an emphasis on comfort and quality. It’s like your favorite sofa has wheels. And a windshield. And an engine. And a Mercedes badge.

The Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is one of the few 4-seater convertible cars that actually offers space in the back for 2 adults.

The engine range includes a surprisingly wide choice of diesel and petrol options (both 4 and 6 cylinders). The top of the range is Mercedes AMG E53 4Matic+with its 429 hp hybrid powertrain.

The high-quality, luxurious interior is accompanied by a stylish exterior design, although the infotainment system isn’t as intuitive as we’d like. Overall, the Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet exudes class and sophistication.

5. BMW Z4

BMW Z4 Roadster We are now on the third generation of the BMW Z4 roadster model, the latest model developed in tandem with the Toyota Supra.

Perfect handling and a powerful turbo engine are the main expectations you can have from a BMW sports car model, and the 2026 Z4 delivers exactly that. But part of its appeal also lies in the interior comfort that can transform it into a comfortable daily car.
